Dynamat 10455 Self Adhesive Deadener Xtreme (Auto Accessory) 1939

Review for x x thick selfadhesive sound deadener

Price was $149.99. I used about 2 sheets per door. Not as much for the rear doors. Covered about 60% of the door. Great results. Attached a video comparison of before and after. I need another kit for the floor now! will definitely purchase again.

Prologue

I installed the dynamat in my 1996 camry. I did the front doors, most of the roof and half of the trunk. I didn't realize how quickly i would run through the product. I don't have a stereo installed yet, i decided to do this first, also just to try and make my daily drive that much quieter. It is a little quieter but it didn't make as much of a difference as i thought it would. But to be fair, i still have the floor to do, which is definitely where most of the noise is coming from. . I didn't buy/use the wooden roller thing that is recommended. And i don't think it's needed, but might make it a little easier when doing large open areas like the roof, floor, and trunk but would be useless in cramped spots like inside the door panel. I warmed it up with a blow dryer, and my hands and did ok. Dynamat 10455 18 x 32 x 0.067 thick self-adhesive sound deadener with xtreme bulk pack, set of 9 Review (10455)

1998 lincoln navigator. Did all the doors and the tailgate. Also did the floor from back bumper to the front firewall. Paired it with the dynaliner on the floor section. With my jl audio system it sounds like i'm in a studio. The doors sound solid when opening and closing; like a vault. Truly amazing! the truck also stays cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Can't wait to do the headliner. Awesome stuff! -M. Ross

I bought this product to mute the road and engine noise in my 2014 tundra. . What a huge difference this product can make. Giving 5 stars was an easy choice for me after driving the vehicle after the dynamat was installed. . I bought the 36 square foot bulk pack thinking i might not use it all, but on a double cab truck i needed nearly the full amount to cover: all four doors (inner and outer door metal, part coverage), inside of each of the four plastic door panels (part coverage), the front driver and passenger foot-wells, floor, and partway up the center transmission rise. I have 6 square feet left on hand to part cover the rear floor and or rear bulkhead, which may not quite get me there to all that i wanted to cover, but i can tell you the work so far has reduced road noise by a very noticeable amount - maybe 80% or more. Doors that used to literally ring like a gong are now sounding solid. Tire / road vibration that i could feel in the door armrests is gone. New speakers installed after the dynamat - excellent, much better interior sound at lower volumes. . Only downside - watch the sharp edges on the aluminum facing on the product - easy to cut yourself when applying it in awkward places. Use a rubber roller where you can, and gloves where you can't. . Very pleased with the product. Recommended.

I had never done anything with sound, to any vehicle i had ever owned, that was so extensive. I am so glad i did. I absolutely love this stuff and will probably put it in any vehicle i own, whether i do a sound system or not. It just quiets things down. It gets a bit sticky at times but comes right off your fingers. Be careful with small pieces that you want to throw away, they may end up back on the bottom of your foot. It took me a solid weekend to do the front to the back and doors. If you have the time, do it."

Dynamat 10415 10 x 10 x 0.067 Thick Self-Adhesive Sound Deadener Xtreme Speaker Kit - Pair

Even the best new speakers cause speaker panel distortion. Home audio speakers typically come in well crafted, heavy boxes to eliminate this distortion-a solution that is impossible (or at least impractical) in your car. For your car, dynamat is the solution. Applying dynamat to the car door surrounding your speakers eliminates speaker panel distortion by transforming the flimsy sheet metal into a solid non-resonant baffle. Dynamat improves mid-bass performance and stops vibration rattles and squeaks. Your stereo will sound its very best with dynamat. Kit contains two 10" x 10" pieces of dynamat xtreme to be used when mounting your speaker to a metal baffle like a car door or rear deck lid.

Dynamat 10435 12 x 36 x 0.067 Thick Self-Adhesive Sound Deadener Xtreme Door Kit

Stop fighting engine rumble, speaker rattle, road noise and buzzing vehicle parts! apply dynamat xtreme to your vehicles resonant surfaces and enjoy improved clarity, loudness and bass response from your car stereo. High-performance dynamat xtreme is lighter than dynamat original, four times more effective, requires no heat to apply and is recommended for vehicle tops, sides and contoured areas. Dynamat xtreme is coated with aluminum for high temperature areas such as firewalls and floors. Why does your car stereo sound louder when you pull off the freeway and come to a stop? road noise steals much of the listenable portion of your music. At 70 mph, a typical automotive noise level of 85 db leaves you with only 20 db of listenable music. Applying dynamat creates a "sonic barrier" restoring 3, 6, even 12 db of lost dynamic range. Gaining just 3 db doubles your effective amplifier power. And that means you hear more music. Kit contains four 12" x 36" (305mm x 914mm) pieces of dynamat xtreme and includes enough material for two standard size doors.

Uxcell® Car Sound Deadener Application Rolling Wheel Roller 5cm X 3.5cm (a13082600ux0419) FAQ.

This Is An Ok Roller For Installing Sound Deadening Mat But The Axle Protrudes A Bit Too Far Past The Sides And Makes It Hard To Get Tight Against Corners. You Can Also Use The Butt Of The Handle To Smash The Mat Into Curved Depressions. I Pressed Very Hard On A Whole-car Install And It Never Showed Any Signs Of Weakness. -Notice from C. Easy to install, and works nicely to mute vibrations in car panels. I recently used some to dampen the rattling in an industrial shelf installed in the back of my cargo van, and it made a night and day difference. . In lining my ford e350 standard length cargo van, i used two of the bigger boxes, and one of these boxes to line everything except the cargo bed floor. . I will note that this smaller box came with the sheets folded over; they unfolded okay, though the shipped-flat sheets are nicer to work with. Also, the larger box comes with a large cardboard sheet the size of the dynamat sheets, and the cardboard sheet is very convenient as a backing when cutting these.

A number of questions have been asked here.

I'd have to agree with dane, dynamat works because of sound damping not blocking. However this poses an interesting question: where do you apply this stuff? about 5 years ago (it's been so long i don't remember exactly when, may have been 6 years) i applied dynamat xtreme to the doors, backwall, pillars, and roof of my f-150. It made a huge difference as the road noise was lessened, the speakers got louder, and when i installed the 2 12's behind the seats things got really loud. Sound was basically "trapped" inside the small regular cab, it really was a night and day difference. And the doors did indeed close with a "thump". Fast forward 5 (or 6) years, due to the seats being removed for leather install and carpet re-installation i took the opportunity and applied an entire bulk back of dynamat xtreme to the floor, same meticulous process as before of pressing and rolling but no noticeable difference after the install was complete. There wasn't less noise from the road or louder bass from the subs or any other difference. Since after this 2nd install virtually every square inch of the cab is covered i'm sure there is some difference but nothing worth the 6-hour install or the price of the bulk pack. My theory, and this is just my personal opinion, is that ford engineers (or gm or toyota or w/e. Engineers) have already taken road noise into account when designing the floor pan so installing a product such as dynamat won't make that much difference as far as the floor goes. As mentioned by other reviews it stops the "klang" and "ratatta" from the body but since my f-150 doesn't have any of those problems from the floor it's safe to conclude it's best to install dynamat anywhere but the floor. It's just not worth the time and $ imho. Hopefully someone who has installed dynaliner or dynapad on the floor pan will chime in. . Do i still believe in dynamat? sure, but i'll only install it on the doors of my other f-150 fx4. Much easier and should take a couple hours versus the probably 8+ to do the whole entire cab. . Best dynamat 10455 self adhesive deadener xtreme (auto accessory) in review

I decided to go with dynamat to reduce road noise in my jeep liberty as the all-terrain tires were unbearably loud at highway speeds after a few hours. Online store had the best prices on the bulk packs by far so i bought two to cover all four doors and the floor of my jeep liberty. I ended up with two sheets (3 sq ft) left over which should be enough to cover the rear gate when i have an afternoon to kill. . The metal backing is incredibly sharp and it conducts electricity, so a co-worker warned me to take great care to ensure that the wires do not come into contact with any of the edges. It's no easier on your finger tips either! i found out the hard way that you should not cover any contact points between the trim panels and doors if you want the panels to fit as snugly as they did before the installation. With the great care and lessons learned, all four doors took approximately 20 hours to install and the floor took close to 30 more. I'm certain an experienced installer could have done the job in half the time. . The results of just the doors were impressive enough, but covering the floorboards made a tremendous difference. At 75 mph, i now listen to the radio at 18 instead of 30, which is an approximate 40% reduction in cabin noise. More impressively is the sudden emergence of midrange and punch from the base that makes me wonder if somebody stuck a subwoofer in my console. With no adjustments to treble or bass, the premium infinity speakers now sound almost worth what the dealer charges! . . Despite the high cost in initial expense, weekend sweat, and finger tip slashing, dynamat has lived up to the hype. Hearing is believing!

I agree with the others; anyone who doesn't like this product must have installed it wrong. . I have a 2000 honda cr-v se. I lined the underside of the hood, the entire roof, all four doors (inside the doors and the surface), much of the floor, the spare tire well, the rear quarters (inside, behind the rear speakers) and lots of the tailgate with two (2x) bulk packs (9 sheets each. ) i had not planned to line the roof, but after gutting the seats, all trim panels, and all the carpeting it seemed worthwhile. I cannot explain how differently the vehicle sounds now. Everyone compliments it (including my wife, who could not understand why i was spending the time and money on the project in the first place, but now wants me to dynamat her solara! ) the doors go "kfump". Knocking on the hood, roof, or doors sounds like hitting a solid wood desk. There are no vibrations or rattles in the car whatsoever (i also got some cheap self-adhesive felt sheets from a hobby store and lined the ashtray, glove box, and little change compartments. Now it's like driving around with ear muffs on. There is still some road noise, because i have pretty knobby tires, but the incredible thing is that i can no longer hear my exhaust from the rear of the car, and sometimes i'll look sideways and notice an 18 wheeler beside me that i did not even hear. When i pass vehicles going the opposite direction i am used to the "whee-owwww" as they go by, but now it is a "whiff", or just silent. . Lining the roof made a huge difference when driving in the rain, but since the windshield is so noisy in a downpour the cabin is still pretty loud, but there is no "ratta-tat-tat" from the metal anymore at all. . I bought a heat gun and the rubber dynamat roller specifically for this project (though i'm sure i'll get plenty more use out of the heat gun). I agree with many of the other reviewers that if you do not press this stuff down in firm contact with your vehicle that you will not get the best results. I've done much (much, much, much, much. ) research on this and the bottom line is that this product is so effective because of "vibration damping", not sound blocking. If you hold a sheet up in midair between you and a speaker it will have no effect. If you glue it to the speaker you will virtually stop the sound. . I can also go on about how amazingly different that my stereo sounds, but i think everyone else covered that. Yes; more mid-bass. Yes; you will hear things in your music that you never heard before. Something that surprised me though was how much quieter your music is outside your car. I am not a loud person, and i always turn the volume down at stop lights, and in residential neighborhoods, but one time i stepped out of my car and left the stereo on at a pretty comfortable level. When i closed the door i could not hear it at all. Nothing. Nada. That was a nice bonus. . This stuff is incredible when installed right. Online store had the best prices in all my searches. You will ache, you will probably bleed, but a weekend or two of hard work should reward you for years. Enjoy!

I have to admit that i was a bit skeptical at first, but i am now a believer. . To begin with, if you look at the trend of reviews on dynamat, it tends to show that people are either completely satisfied (5 stars) or unsatisfied (1 star). I suspect that those who are giving one star ratings either don't know how to properly install the product or they just expect miracles. . I have a '07 camry which i love but roadnoise has been getting to my sensitive hearing lately. *note: i have a leather interior which lends to a louder interior when compared to an upholstered interior. My biggest problem was music listening when driving on long hauls over roads that are rough. I would have to crank up the radio to hear it, and it was not even intelligible at that. With this bulk kit, i was able to line nearly my entire trunk, the rear speaker decklid, and the floorboard beneath the rear seat where the gastank sits. The results are phenomenal! . . I am not prepared to tear out my entire interior to do the ceiling and floorboards and firewall, but beware it is a lot of work. With having prior knowledge of how to tear down my car, it took me 8 hours to completion for the rear of my car. Seriously consider taking your time to install it, and do it the right way. . If you do a rush job, you will have a rushed-job results and you won't be happy. You have to prep the surface which is just fine with a can of denatured alcohol and a white rag. It is imperative that you roll this substance on real good. The performance of this product depends on how you tack it to the surface. The more contact it has with the surface (ribs and creases and all) the better it will perform. I highly recommend the rubber hand tool as it conforms easier to bends in the metal making it easier to form. I suspect the wooden tool would do just fine, but it may be harder since it doesn't have any "give" to it for forming those tough spots. . I am very happy with my results. Without doing the whole car, i have cut my road noise in half literally. I notice no roadnoise from the rear now, it's all from the doors and front, etc. But i am not prepared to tear out my interior. The stock speakers in the car perform 200% better, although they still suck. Before the application i wasnt able to turn up the volume without losing the bass completely. Now i have decent full-range sound and i no longer have to turn up the radio to hear it. I used to turn up the volume to 26-30 just to hear it (which i still couldn't understand because of the noise). Now, i leave it at around 15 and never have to turn it up to hear it or even understand the music! no joke. . One last note on installation: if you aren't worried about the look of the install (because it is going to be covered with carpet, etc. ) don't be afraid to cut it up. You will more than likely use every piece. It is much easier to work with in strips. Large curves are a son-of-a-gun. The product is very thin, but very tough. Avoid air pockets!

F. Lisa, Aquitaine says

Just purchased 2008 mustang with low miles. I found alot of road noise at highway speeds. I had. Dynamat installed in the trunk and what a difference. The mustang had no insulation in the trunk. Except for a thin piece of carpet, if you can call it that. It was not cheap to have this done and i. Soon learned i could buy dynamat for 50% off list price at online store. Com and install it my self. The best way. To purchase it is the 9 sheet pack. I did one door myself so far and plan to do the second door and the floor. At a fraction of the cost. The noise level is down 50% right now from where i want it. The product is easy to. Install, but make sure you buy the roller too.

This was recommended to us by our mechanic to deaden the sound in our motorhome. My husband was redoing the rv and we decided to give this a shot as it was very difficult to talk while the rv was running because of the loud engine noise. He pulled up all the rugs surround the doghouse and cut and fit the dynamat to all the flooring space and all around and under the doghouse(the engine space). The difference was unbelievable. We can now carry on a conversation without any problem. The entire entire seems much quieter. This stuff really performs like it says it does. I thought it was pretty pricey but now i can see why. It was certainly worth the cost. If you use this you won't be sorry. Application was pretty easy but you will need a roller of some kind to get the dynamat to adhere well to the floor and without you cutting your hands up smoothing it out.

P. Valdez, Virginia says

I used two of the 36 sq ft (total of 72) on my car and hood and used the "hoodliner" (do not waste your money on the hoodliner). But the dynamat actually did some good for road noise. I can say that the hood liner doesn't work well because i put it in about 2 weeks after i installed the first round of dynamat. Looking back, i would still do the dynamat, but would save the money on the hoodliner. Good luck to all, and be prepared to get your hands cut up by this stuff. Plus the rubber black stuff gets everywhere (shoes, jeans, hands, knifes, . ) just use 90% rubbing alcohal to remove it (works like a charm) :)

I did quite a bit of research before deciding on dynamat. There are some cheaper competitors that people swear are just as good and they may be, but i just don't trust them as much. If you do your research you will even see that some people chose to use roofing material that you can buy at home depot. Someone would have to be out of their mind to put $20 worth of roofing tar into a $20, 000+ vehicle. The only negative thing people have to say about dynamat is that it is priced high, but if you buy the bulk packs on online store you will save yourself a ton of money and is actually a pretty cost effective solution for diy work. I have looked around and online store has the best price anywhere. . Main competitors and my impressions of them. I have not purchased or used these product, but this is an idea of why i chose dynamat over them. I am not a car audio professional by any means. This is the first time i used deadening on my car and i am writing this to help anyone else who is thinking of doing this. . 1) raamaudio raammat + ensolite foam - most cost effective "legitimate" option. 2) sound deadener showdown - "cdl tiles" + mass loaded vinyl. Sds would be an interesting choice. If you look through forums you will see some people who really like this stuff, but i found the website to be confusing and i could not truly make an informed decision one way or another. 3)fatmat: cheapest of all automotive dampeners, but one google search of "fatmat smell" is all you need to know. Some say it smells awful and some don't, but there is no chance i risk it. This stuff is super cheap, does not deaden as well as competitors and stinks. I would use home depot roofing material before this product. Move on. . And to the "real" competitor. . 4) second skin audio- damplifier pro + closed cell foam (ccf)- although i decided on dynamat, based on reviews and forum comments, i think that second skin audios product line may in fact be superior to dynamat, but i decided against it for a few reasons. Damplifier pro is a good bit heavier than dynamat extreme. For most, this isnt going to make a huge difference, but i am lining a performance car with more emphasis on performance than sound. I want an improved sound system, but if the increase in weight is only going to improve things very minimally it is just not worth it to me. A lot of people say that dynamat is the most expensive, but a 36 sq. Foot pack of damplifier pro costs $204+ shipping. They do have some coupons occasionally, but it is more expensive. . The fact is dynamat is proven to work and is trusted by professionals. I do not think you can go wrong with dynamat because the only bad thing people have to say about it is that the price is high which is a bit of a myth. If you drive a big truck or suv, want the absolute best sound and aren't as concerned with weight, i would think about the 80sq foot damplifier pro shop pack and ccf foam. . I turned my trunk into a enclosure with dynamat xtreme. I lined just about every surface, doubling up in a few critical areas and was able to line my trunk with this kit. If you want to really go out and line an entire car, you will need 100 sq ft+ of this stuff. If you are doing the trunk and doors like me, you'll need 50-80 sq feet depending on whether or not you plan to cover the entire door. I would use the bulk kit for anything but the doors. You can surely use the dynamat in the bulk kit on the doors, but the door kit strips 12" x 36" and make for a cleaner install because they will run the full length of any door. It would not be the end of the world to have extra, but i would try to make a good estimate of how much you will need so that you arent leftover with a whole box of this stuff. . One final recommendation as i try to unload all of the information i have learned. Dynamat claims that you do not need a heat gun to install dynamat extreme. That may be true, but after using a heat gun to put the finishing touches on the trunk, i would have to strongly recommend using a heat gun for trouble areas and difficult corners. I was able to put the dynamat down so much flatter and nicer by heating it up a bit and rolling it down. It especially helps to heat corners and tight spots where you cannot get the roller in, because it makes it easier to mash the dynamat down with your fingers. I am not going to use the heat gun on the doors however, as i believe that there are more heat sensitive components in there and do not want to chance it dynamat claims it is not a necessity. . I plan on using dynaliner on top of the dynamat in the doors (and trunk i think) as well as by itself in a few areas. I really hope this helps someone. If you have anything to say about my opinions, or would just like to comment on what i have done, please let me know.

The 9 sheets included in this kit definitely arent enough to do an entire car if youre going for lots of coverage. I used all 9 sheets on the inside of the trunk of my cobalt. Cutting them was very easy, i used a razor knife, and put the piece to be cut on top of some cardboard. I was expecting the mastic to gum up the blade quickly, but surprisingly it didnt, even with the dynamat out in the sun as i worked. . Using a roller it stuck well to even strange contours in my trunk.

D. Sally, Texas

Just installed it, ill update my review in about a week but mid bass is actually audible. It is basically sticky tack. Sometimes if you start peeling off the paper and stop you have to peel somewhere else, it's weird like that. Doesn't gunk up the razor too much, it actually cuts easily. Cut it on cardboard for ease. Increased bass loudness. I'll retune my stereo soon. '04 taurus. 4 pieces did both front doors inside and where the weather guard was and the trunk lid. I have 5 left and idk if i'll do the rear deck and the whole trunk or put it on the floor. Took a lot of time but that's from my mistakes. Get the roller, it'll help. Best if you lightly place it and then roll it as you peel it off. No more distortion of my door speakers from the subs rattling the flimsy metal door. It is like 25-30 pounds or so

Regarding a roller for dynamat. Check your local hardware store for some great rollers. Lowes has a roller in the tile/floor department. It has three plastic roller heads and works great with dynamat and other materials. Hope this helps all of you. . Don

I've had the dynamat installed in my '04 subaru impreza outback sport for about a month now and it was well worth the effort. When i say effort, i tore out my entire interior to install this stuff. Inner and outer door skins, entire floor (doubled up in places), trunk (doubled up again), rear hatch, and under my hood. It took a total of about 17 hours to install and trashed my hands, cuts and sore for several days. I used the dynamat heavy-duty roller for most of the installation and the handle of the roller to push the material into tight crevacises. My entire car, exluding the roof, took 2 3/4 bulk packs. I still have some left over and trying to figure out what to do with it. . The results: you could say i was skeptical like other users, mostly because i hadn't known anyone who used it or what dynamat was even made of really. It's basically sheets of tar (butyl rubber) backed with thick aluminum foil. This stuff is heavy, but pretty thin and tucks into tight places pretty easily. While at first i noticed an increase in my cars weight, it seems to be less noticable the more i drive. What's more noticable is the quiet ride and solid-feeling the car now has. The doors really do close with a thud and not that reverberating tin-can sound like before. The entire chassis feels much more rigid and stiff, like a higher priced, luxury car. My roommate, who drives a benz c-class, said the stiffness was immediately apparent and the road noises was significantly reduced. This girl loves to drive and she was pretty impressed with the results. . The amount of road noise from freeways was almost difficult to carry on conversations or listen to music clearly before. Much more quiet now. If you've ridden in a subaru impreza, you know how loud they are! while it's not lexus quiet, it's much, much better than a stock subaru. There's still some noise, but i wasn't able to cover the firewall as much as i would have liked and my tires are lousy. When new tires are needed, i'm going back to a quality set and that should help a lot more. (btw, bridgestone-made fuzion hr's suck a$, but they are cheap. ) i'm going with bridgestone turanza's next time. . My intention was purely to block out road noise and make a more comfortable environment for myself and passangers. A bonus to killing the road noise was the improvement in my cars audio quality. I had previously installed an alpine h. U. , alpine speakers and audiobahn d-class amp w/ a 10" sub and it really brought my system to life. I never knew what mid-bass was till after the dynamat was installed. I'm amazed to get that much thump, out of 6 1/2" door speakers! i had to go back into the headunit and re-adjust my equalizer because the entire soundstage totally changed. It really allows me to enjoy my music to it's fullest without an amp for the door speakers, which is nice! my music consists mostly of hardcore, metal-core, metal and punk. The dynamat really brought out crisp, clean sound that wasn't distorted at higher volumes like before. It's also allowed me to tune in really precise and crisp bass hits from my single 10", enough to make my rearview mirror droop with each hit. I love hearing and feeling the kick drums in heavy music. . All-in-all, i am extremely pleased with the results. At first i was tired and my hands and back ached from two straight days of installation, all the while thinking "what the hell am i doing! ? ". But now, i can sit back on a drive, carry on conversations without raising our voices, listen to my music with better definition and clearity, or enjoy a nice peaceful interior alone. It's been well worth the effort. . Would i do it all over again? . . In a heartbeat on this car. Hopefully the next car will be more quiet from the factory. If not, i'll probably dyanmat that one too!

I used 1 and half of these to dynamat the majority of my 2010 chevy camaro. I had installed an exhaust and upgraded my sound system to high end speakers and subs. I bought dynamat for the car in attempt to help with cabin drone from the exhaust and to help with the high end audio equipment i had installed. The subs were thumping and definitely caused rattling. I installed the dynamat in the entire trunk, trunk lit, most of the cars rear cabin, the roof, and the doors for the component speakers. . The difference is fairly noticeable. I knew going into the purchase that dynamat is not a sound proofing material. It literally just adheres to metal to give it weight so things don't rattle as much and this also helps with the acoustical sound of music and some other things. . Cabin noise from the exhaust was reduced by a bit, but not by much. General road noise was reduced more so, but nothing extraordinary. It did help the speakers and subs. There is a lot less rattle from my powerful subs. There is still some rattle here and there, but theres only so much this material can do. I'm running jl audio w7 subs and those will rattle anything, you can't stop the rattle, only reduce it. But it was definitely reduced. . Don't expect huge, drastic results. But there is a difference. I feel that some reviews make it sound like it changes the whole sound of the car. Maybe on some certain types of cars it works better than others. Just remember this isn't going to revolutionize your sound system and make the cabin silent. Your just laying sheets on metal and reducing certain vibrations. . Dynamat met my expectations on what it could do, and did not go above them, which is fine. My car does sound better thanks to dynamat.

Herculiner - hcl1b8 - brush-on bed liner kit after deciding i would like to fix up and keep a 91 pathfinder around for a few years. I decided i was going to take out the 20 year old carpet. I was originally only going to use herculiner, do it yourself bedliner (i choose herculiner because of so many positive reviews). After many days prep; i removed all the factory sound proofing tar with a hammer and chisel, then sanded with a drill and wire brush untill all was clean metal. I applied two coats of herculiner. It looked great and was solid. I decided i wanted a slightly thicker floor. So i purchased two bulk packs of dynamat and laid a layer. It went on so easy and looked so nice i decided i should do two layers. I bought another two bulk packs of dynamat and laid my second layer down. I then applied a final two coats of herculiner. It looked great. I decided to go the extra mile and do a coat of optional herculiner uv protection. I used a quart and a half. It was going on a purple gray and i assumed it would dry black and be unnoticeable. It did not. It looked horrible. It had not changed to black and had separated in areas and bubbled as well. I called herculiner and told them my results. They were great, they said it sounded like i had got two from a bad batch that had gotten out. They offered right away to mail me some replacement bottles. They thought i should be ok if i sanded down the bad uv protection and reapplied a coat or two of herculiner. So i picked up another herculiner kit from autozone and went to work that day. I sanded for about five minutes and realized that the uv protection was not going to just sand off. So i spent about two hours sanding all the surfice with 80grit and cleaning up the sand it produced. I then applied another two coats of herculiner. It looked real sad. I called herculiner again and this time i sent them some pictures of how the bad uv protection turned out after sanding and two more coats of herculiner. If i had no other options i might of been able to sand all the uv protection off. It would have took about 40 hours, i think though. I decided the only way i would have results i'm happy with was to apply another layer of dynamat and then two more coats of herculiner. So i ordered two more box's of dynamat and applied one more layer. I then applied my last two coats of herculiner. And it looks great again. I now know why dynamat and herculiner are the brands brought up the most online (forums). These products worked great together and are of the highest quality. Hercliner is sending me out some replacement uv protection that is not from a bad batch, ( it should be a solid black, not purple). I will wait a year and if any of the floor fades apply some then.
