I used the heater for my 8' x 8' nylon tent while camping in cold conditions and it worked great. It definitely made camping in those conditions more comfortable. I left the flaps open a little for ventilation and never had any problem with carbon monoxide buildup. I only used it on the low setting and that was plenty of heat for that small of a space. My one concern was heat from the unit melting the tent material. The housing of the heater stays cool enough but the heat pushing out from the ceramic element for a foot or 2 in front of the heater got pretty warm particularly at the floor level. There was no damage but next time i use it i think i will bring a metal tray with a piece of carpet or something for the heater to sit in or on to keep it a bit removed from easily flammable nylon material. Conditions were windy and when the tent door was open it didn't take much of a gust to blow the heater out on the low setting. I imagine that on the high setting that would be less of a problem. Using it during 5 nights of camping for about 9 hours each night on the low setting i used about a third of a 20 lb. Propane tank. All in all i was very happy with the heater and would recommend it for similar applications.

Mr. Heater Buddy Series Hose Assembly - 10-ft., Model# F273704 (Mr Heater) Review

I Used It Last Night To Run A Small Heater In My Shed From A 20 Pound Tank And It Worked Perfectly. The Length Of Hose Allows Me To Keep The Tank A Safe Distance And Out Of My Work Area. I Made A Simple Table Fixture To Mount The Heater With The Hose So It Is Safe And Sturdy. No More Expensive 1 Pound Tank Purchases. Just Remember To Shut Off The Gas Supply Off At The Tank First And Let The Appliance Burn Off The Gas In The Line. I Really Like The Quality And Convenience On The Hose A Must Buy For Those Wanting To Save Some Money.

Review from S. Joanne, Yukon Territory

Review from C. Kathlene, Stockport

This Is The Hose That You Do Not Need A Filter For. This Hose Is Made By Mr Heater For The Buddy Heater. It Does Not Leech So You Do Not Need The Filter That Everyone Warns You About. Here Is Why - Most People Turn Off The Heater And Then The Tank Valve - This Leaves Pressurized Propane In The Old Style Rubber Hose. That Can Cause The Hose To Leech Oils Into The Line That Can And Will Plug Up The Heater Over Time. This Hose Is A Different Material And Does Not Leech Even If Left Pressurized. The Only Downside Is That This Hose Material Can Be Harder To Straighten Out In Cold Weather. I'm In Colorado And Used This In The Garage Recently (several Times). Each Time The Temperature Was In The Teens And I Had No Problems Uncurling The Hose Straight. None. I'm Pretty Certain You Will Have No Issues Either. So Save Your Money - You Don't Need The Filter On This One.

Saving Me A Load By Avoiding The Small Expensive Tanks. Connected Easily And I Didn't Find It Very Inflexible.

Pros: Flexible Easy To Connect A Perfect Length. Cons: It Didn't Work And I Decided To Return It. I Purchased This Hose To Be Able To Connect A 20lb Tank To My Mr. Buddy Heater And To A Weber Q Grill. The Later Doesn't Need A Filter So This Hose Should Have Worked Fine. The Hose Threaded To Both Devices Fine But Would Only Allow Minimal Flow Of Propane. A Slight Breeze Would Extinguish The Flame On Both. I Contacted Mr. Heater And Was Told That This Was A Common Issue And Related To A "excess Flow Safety Device". The Mr. Heater Technical Service Rep Gave The Following Guidance: We Receive Calls From Customers With The Problem Of Their Hose Or Propane Device Not Getting Any Or Not Enough Flow Of Propane Because Of A Defective Hose. This Problem Occurs On Many Different Products And Is Easy To Overcome Once We Explain What Is Happening. The Reduced Flow Or No Flow At All Is Caused By A Required Safety Device In The Fitting At The End Of The Hose That Screws Into The Propane Tank Called An Excess Flow Safety Device. The Fitting That Screws Into The Propane Tank Valve Has An "excess Flow Safety Device" Built Into It And Is Required By Code And Works In The Following Way: There Is A Pin And Spring Inside The Fitting. If The Hose Was To Be Cut Or Damaged The Quick And Sudden Excess Flow Of Gas Thru The Damaged Hose Will Drive This Pin Against The Spring And Into The Hose Blocking Most Or All Flow Thru The Hose Reducing The Escaping Raw Gas Out The Damaged Area. This Same Problem Can Also Happen When You Turn On The Tank. If You Turn The Valve On Quickly This Will Cause A Quick Spurt Of Fuel Into The Hose Which Can Activate This "excess Flow Device" To Block Or Restrict The Gas Out Of The Hose. Follow These Instructions To Prevent This From Happening: 1. Shut The Valve Off On The Propane Device And The Tank. 2. When You Open The Valve On The Propane Tank Do It Slowly Until The Valve Turns Freely And Than Open It All The Way. (this Information Is On The Instructions Under Lighting And Operating Instructions) 3. Now Open The Valve On The Torch A Little And Light It. 4. Once The Torch Is Lit You Can Open The Valve On The Torch To Adjust The Flame. This Is A Very Common Problem On Propane Hoses And Other Devices That Have This Required Safety Device But Understanding The Cause Can Allow You To Overcome The Flow Problem And Use The Device Safely. If You Still Have Troubles With This Unit Please Give Me A Call Unfortunately That Guidance Didn't Solve The Problem And I Opted To Return It. In It's Place I Purchased A Coleman Hose For The Grill And An Adapter To Refill The 1lb Bottles For Use On The Heater.

12ft Big Buddy Hose with Regulator12ft-Big-Buddy-Hose-Regulator

12ft Big Buddy Hose Regulator (Mr Heater) Review

Great Addition To The Big Buddy Heater (will Not Work With The Little Buddy) My Only Concern Is That It Looks To Be Made Of The Same Material As The Hoses That Connect Where The Fuel Cylinder Connects And They Recommend A Fuel Filter Because Of Oil Leaching Out Of The Rubber From Contact With The Propane. After About A Weeks Use I Noticed The Big Buddy Heater Not Was Not Burning Efficiently On Low Setting And Thought That Might Be The Problem So I Started Turning The Tank Off And Allowing The Heater To Burn Up The Fuel In The Line. No Problems Since. The Other Hose That Hooked To The Cylinder Connection Worked Fine And I Used A Filter From The Beginning And. Ever Had A Problem. The Only Reason I Switched To This Fuel Cable Was For The Regulator. The Other Fuel Line Is Not Regulated Relying On The Pressure In The Tank For Proper Combustion. External Heat And Cold For That Matter Affect The Pressure Inside Of A Tank. I Felt That The Heater Wasn't Burning Efficiently On The Mid Setting Which Is Where I Used It The Most. My Hunch Was Right And By Switching To This Regulated Hose I Got On Average 3 More Days Usage Out Of A 20lb Tank. Now That's Not Using It 24/7 It Was Only Used While We Were Awake And At Home. Bedtime Heater Was Off And We Relied On Electric Heat For Our Bedrooms.

Review from K. Finch, Norfolk

Review from H. Susana, Enfield

This Hose Costs More Than The One Without The Regulator. However It Has Several Advantages That Have Been Confirmed By Mr. Heater (i Called Them): 1) The Regulator Keeps The Pressure Coming From The Tank Into The Hose At A Very Low Level Which Is Safer. 2) You Do Not Need To Purchase A Fuel Filter With This Hose. The Regulator Prevents Oils From Leaving The Propane Tank And Entering Your Heater Where It Could Do Damage. Although You Pay More For This Hose Up Front You Don't Have To Buy Fuel Filters Periodically Which Are Required With The Other Hose That Doesn't Have The Regulator.

Image of 12ft-big-buddy-hose-regulator-(mr-heater)

This Is The Best Option For Your Mr. Heater Big Buddy And I'll Tell You Why And I'll Give You A Useful Tip. Useful Tip: When You First Connect This And Try To Fire Up Your Heater You Will Be Surprised At How Long It Takes To Light Your Heater. Because It Is 12' And Because The Gas Is Regulated To A Very Low Pressure At The Tank Side Of The Hose It Takes A Full 90 Seconds For The Propane To Fill The Hose And Reach The Pilot Light. I Have Tried It Seasonally Four Times Now. It Is Not 70 Seconds. Not 80. It Is 90. Every. Time. I Suggest You Connect Open The Propane Tank Twist Your Knob And Hold It Down (prime) For 80 Sec Before You Even Try To Light It With A New Hose. Don't Be Tricked By A Very Faint Smell Of Propane It Will Take 90 Seconds. Have I Driven The Point Hard Enough But Only Need To Do This Priming Once A Season; I Can Swap Out Propane Tanks And Will Not Need To Repeat The 90s Priming. Pros Of This Hose: - It Has A Pressure Regulator On The Hose At The Tank Side Which Is Why It Costs More But The Regulator Offers A Consistent 1/2psi Of Pressure To Your Heater. - The Low Pressure Is Safer In Case Of Propane Leakage In The System (hose Heater Element). You Are Less Likely To Have Leaks With Lower Pressure. - The Low Pressure Means That Your Hose Will Not Leech The Rubber Oils That Ruin So Many People's Big Buddy. You Don't Need A Filter At The Heater Side Because There Is No Leeching. - Powers The Heater On Full For A Long Long Time. - Has A Great Easy To Hookup Fast Connector For The Heater. Face Your Heater Open The Tank Compartment On Your Left And Look For The 4" Shiny Connector Dropping Down From The Top Behind The In-built Regulator Hookup For The Small 1lb Tank. That's Where You Connect. - Using This You Spare Your Internal Connectors And Regulators For When You Go Mobile. Eventually Regulators Get Used Gummy Or Go Bad. If You Use This Hose Your Internal Regulators Last Longer. - When You Shut Off The Propane From The Tank The Heater Dies Out Very Quickly. I Understand That With The High-pressure Hose It Takes A While For The Propane In The Hose To Burn Off. Cons: - Costs More Than High-pressure Hose. Seems Like A Lot Of Cash For A Hose. - The Regulator May Eventually Gum Up. Mine Has. I Used It Every Workday In My Home Office For 14 Months (that's A Lot) And Now Found My Heater Was Cutting Out When On The Highest Setting. So I Bought A New Hose Like This And Instantly My Heater Is Working 100% Again. But Instead Of Gumming Up My Internal Regulators (and Ruining The Whole Heater) I Wore Out The Cheaper Hose.

This Connects A 20 Propane Tank To The Big Buddy. Nothing Else Needed. Be Advised When Turning Heat Off First Turn Off Propane Tank Allow Heater Flame To Go Out Then Turn Off Heater. The Propane In The Hose Eventually Causes The Hose To Deteriorate And Gunks Up The Heater Rendering It Useless. This Way Propane Doesn't Sit In Hose When Heater Is Off.

I Bought This Extended Hose To Keep The Radiant Heater Hanging On The Ceiling In My Garage While Allowing The Tank To Be A Good Distance Away. While The Pol Style Fitting Worked Fine For The 20lb Propane Tank I Have But The Other End Does Not Fit In The Mh40lp Gas Inlet. It Would've Been Nice To Know What Parts I Needed Before Hand Now I Will Have To Go To Homedepot And Do Research On The Parts I Need Or Having To Once Again Order Off The Internet And Wait.

Review from H. Teresa, Ealing

Review from U. Arnett, Northumberland

This Is A Must Have For Any Camping Enthusiast Who Enjoys Extended Says In The Great Outdoors. I Have A Camp Stove Grill And Big Buddy Heater That I Run With This Accessory Hose. Works Perfect With All Of These Application And Beats Having To Switch The 1lb Propane Cylinders Over And Over Again. Very Good Quality Hose And Very Worth The Money. I'd Buy Again For Sure!

Image of Mr.-heater-75,000-btu-12-foot-propane-hose-assembly-#f273702-(mr-heater)

I Like That This Hose Is Longer As I Was Nervous The First Time I Used A Propane Bottle In My House But Thanks To The Long Hose I Am Now Not Without Heat When The Power Goes Off.

I Have Bought About 60 Of These Hoses From Online Store And 100 S From Other Dealers And Have Had Zero Problems. It Is Absolutely An Excellent Hose. For Those Of You Who Are Leaving One Star Because You Can't Get Gas To Go Through The Hose It Is Not The Hose Causing This. It Is The Safety Check Valve Inside Your Tank. All New Tanks Now Have A Safety Check Valve Inside The Tank Inside The Main Shutoff Valve. If There Is Ever A Large Break In A Gas Line And A Large Amount Of Gas Is Escaping This Check Valve Will Close Preventing Gas From Escaping. When You First Pressurize This Hose That Initial Rush Of Gas Into The Hose Can Trip The Check Valve Inside The Tank Preventing Gas From Further Exiting The Tank. To Solve The Problem Close The Main Tank Valve. Allow The Hose To Depressurize By Using Whatever Gas Is In The Hose. Then Open The Main Tank Valve Again Very Slowly So Gas Can Fill The Hose Slowly. If You Hear A Click At The Tank Shut Off Valve You Ve Tripped The Check Valve Again. Depressurize Again And Open The Shut Off Valve Slower Next Time. Once The Hose Is Pressurized Open The Tank Valve All The Way. The Small Amount Of Gas That You Will Use For Appliances Will Not Trip The Safety Valve Inside The Tank. Your Appliance Should Work Properly. For Those Of You Who Are Leaving Low Feedback Scores Because The Ends Of The Hose Are Not Correct For What You Re Working On Is That Really A Fault Of The Hose Not Really Understanding That. My Suggestion Is To Ask First If You Are Unsure. There Is Plenty Of Info On This Hose All Over The Internet. It Is Sold By Many Dealers. So You Don T Need To Make The Mistake Of Buying It Incorrectly And Then Blaming The Hose For Not Having The Ends You Needed. Hate To See An Excellent Product Like This Degraded Because Of A Consumer Mistake.

Mr. Heater Portable Buddy Carry Bag 9bx (Mr Heater) Review

This Bag Is Really Handy To Have For Carrying My Heater Lp Tank Hose And A Couple Of Small Cans Of Fuel. I Have Two Main Gripes With The Bag. First The Construction Isn't Really All That Impressive. The Fabric Used Is Fairly Thin So The Bag Is Really Floppy. This Makes It A Little Harder To Get The Heater In And Out Plus I Don't Think This Bag Will Hold Up To Much Abuse. Additionally The Zippers On The Top Are Lightweight And I'm Not Sure How Well They Will Hold Up Over Time. Second The Bag Doesn't Have A Handle Loop So You Can Easily Pick Up And Carry The Bag Like A Briefcase. It Does Have A Shoulder Strap So I Keep That Short And Use It As A Carry Handle But It's Not Quite The Same Thing. In The End I Suppose I Would Get This Again Because It's The Only Bag I Know Of That Is Made To Carry This Heater With Fuel And Accessories. I Just Wish It Was Constructed A Little More Ruggedly.

Review from L. Judith, British Columbia

Review from B. Ruff, Nova Scotia

This Bag Is Really Nice. I Almost Didn't Spend The Extra Money For A Bag But We Are Really Glad We Did. Now The Heater And All Related Items Are Together In One Place. There Is Plenty Of Room For Extras. It Is Well Made. Everything Fits Really Well. And It Looks Better Sitting In My Garage.

What I Really Like About This Bag Is That You Can Carry Your Buddy Heater With All The Attachments. When I Grab The Bag I Have A Spare Bottle My Big Propane Bottle Hose Filter Etc. Alltogether. So Long As I Remember To Grab The Heater I've Got It All!

It's A Good Durable Bag My Mr. Heater Fits Perfect And The Added Pockets Is A Plus To Store The Extras I Received It On Time As Promissed. Thank You!

The F.A.Q. for Mr heater f232000 indoor safe portable (Home)

Buy this thing, its worth every penny! perfect for camping in the tent when its cold leave on low and fall asleep (make sure you vent), although it makes a strange noise when it runs out of gas so don't have a heart attack. I have a canopy with walls and this keeps it nice and warm for those cooler nights so you can hang out without being bundled up around the fire or during no burn times. All and all great product!

Great heater for indoors. My house is set up with an open living room, dining room, kitchen, and main hallway. This section (around 700sqft in area) also has a cathedral ceiling so there's a lot of volume to heat. I figured even on high this heater wouldn't really be adequate for such a space. From my reading, it seemed like more of a on-room heater. Not so! . . With the outside temperature a bit below freezing, i turned off my house heat and waited for it to fall 2 degrees before turning on the heater. My goal was to see if it could turn the temperature back around or if it would just fall more slowly. After running for 2 hours on low, the heater had recovered the lost 2 degrees and gained another 2. It was able to hold the room at 68 degrees on low. . In performing this test on two different days, i also confirmed that the propane consumption rate is basically exactly what they advertise (maybe 10% worse). Basically a 20lb tank can run this thing for 4 days on low, and keep reasonable-sized living quarters at a comfortable temperature. I'd say you could stretch a week from a tank if you don't need it to be 68 degrees (or if it's warmer out). . I bought this for emergency preparedness in the event of a long term power outage. If that's how you're going to use it, i'd say every 20lb propane tank is good for a week of emergency heat. . Also, i ran this in a closed bathroom for an hour. No light-headedness, nor did it shut off from low oxygen. It definitely weirds me out running a propane heater indoors but it seems to be totally safe.

I bought this "portable buddy" as an emergency replacement for the mr. Heater "tough buddy" my son gave me 4 or 5 years ago - the only non-breathing entity for which i've ever developed a deep fondness! (the man on the mr. Heater hotline says it can be fixed, so i'm keeping it. ) but i needed heat immediately! i've never been happier to see a package at the post office! . . Online store had a better price than local stores and could get it to me in 2 days! (no local store had it in stock and it would have taken them at least a week to have it ready for pickup. ) that's far too long for an old lady to be cold. . I bought the fuel filter, too - i believe - after some research - that not having one while using a 5-6 ft. Hose and a 20 propane tank led to the malfunctioning of my tough buddy. (i was able to clean the pilot light tube to get it to light, but - alas - it wouldn't stay lit for more than 10-15 minutes. ). . The new buddy portable heater gives great heat! i live in the mountains in the southwest. In a partly-historic adobe house. I have a furnace, but i hate the blowing air (allergies) and the noise. And i guess i'm just tired of tending fires, though my fireplace has a firebox in it the blows heat throughout the "beehive" exterior. After being in this house for more than a dozen winters, i decided that it was stupid and expensive to try to heat the house, as i live alone. With my companion dog; my objective these days is to heat myself. The altitude hasn't been an issue. . The portable buddy lights easily and gives the direct warmth of a toasty fire while the vents at the top warm the surrounding area. I love this kind of instantly-warming heat. There is no comparison in my mind to a warm heater (or fire) with fresh air in the house and the stuffiness of a centrally-heated house. I use the heater only in the evenings, for reading and tv watching; i warm up on "high", but soon find myself switching to "low" and moving the heater farther away. I would never let it run unattended. I enjoyed using my fireplace for years, but you just can't get a good fire going as quickly as you can fire up this little heater! . . Compared to my old tough buddy, there have been some improvements made to this heater: the attachment (to the 1 propane tank pictured, or to the hose connecting to a 20 tank) now swivels - which would make attaching the 1 tank infinitely easier. And there is a new pilot-lighting mechanism, now part of the main switch. I'm not sure how i feel about this change: it's worked fine so far, but i'm wondering if it will stand the time test, as i consider this a long-term purchase. The handle on top now swivels back, and there is now an oxygen-depletion sensor in addition to the tip-over sensor. The tip-sensor (in my old model) only went off once; the heater can be slid carefully, just not bumped. My dog treats it with respect, but i'd be careful around small children. . The mr. Heater hotline man told me the buddy was exactly the same as the tough buddy. It may be, mechanically, but the new heater is lighter in weight and a bit smaller; the pad that lights up and gets hot is vertically oriented (tb was horizontal. ) however, it's quite sturdy, and the really important part - its heating ability - is the same. I love it, and i'd recommend it for campers, people working in shops or garages, sports people and to anyone who can safely use a 20 propane tank, which is so much more economical than the 1 tanks. Terrific for emergencies! the caveat is that it shouldn't be left unattended, including while sleeping. . P. S. Buy the fuel filter. I don't know enough about these things to review it, but i can attest to the fact that impurities (including added odorrants) in propane and the plasticizers in some propane hoses can lead to the untimely demise of this heater without a filter. . Also, save the box for off-season storage of the heater; dust and spider webs would have to be cleaned out before re-use. And i'd suggest actually reading the user manual.

Living in a rural part of western pa, we're no stranger to cold winters and sudden power outages. Lacking a secondary heat source apart from our oil furnace, my husband and i decided on a portable heater until we can have a more permanent solution installed (probably propane fireplace). I researched all possible portable, non-electric heating options, including kerosene, and we finally settled on the buddy for these reasons: 1) ratings and reviews from online store buyers, 2) product information from the mr. Heater website, 3) reputation of the mr. Heater product line, and 4) ease of setup and use. . We're not propane people- we don't own a gas grill and i cook with electric, so propane is rather exotic to us. But after doing my homework, i'm glad we settled for this heater. It arrived quickly and very well packaged. It was a matter of minutes from box to operation. We made sure all the parts were in place and ready to go, screwed on the propane bottle, checked for leaks (soapy water method), and fired it up. It lit quickly and within 10 minutes had raised the temperature on our enclosed, unheated 28' x 12' x 8' sunroom by 12 degrees (it was 8 degrees outside at the time). It is easy to start, just as the directions say. The heater sits firmly with no tipping threat. It feels sturdy and rugged, yet is comfortably portable. . Shutting it down was just as easy. Simply turn the knob! we checked the safety feature as well. It shut off after tipping it just a few degrees. Not sure about the oxygen sensor, but we don't plan to operate this in enclosed spaces without ventilation of some kind. . Odor: there was a fairly strong odor when we first started it, but this is a normal 'burn in' odor from what i've read. The odor has since diminished drastically, although there will most likely always be the trademark propane smell, and it is tolerable. . Would i buy this same product again? absolutely!

I bought this product after seeing a friend's unit. We were heading to yellowstone for a camping trip, and the overnight lows were expected in the upper 20s. This heater did a great job keeping our large 16x12, 2-room tent nice and toasty, even on the low setting. . One night, we went to grand teton national park and stayed in the tent village at colter bay. These are large (perhaps 20x20x10) canvas & log tents with a concrete floor and no insulation. I was worried the little heater just wouldn't do the trick. We kept it on high overnight, and i had to change the canister once, but the original canister wasn't completely full to start, so i can't report exactly how long a single canister runs. There were record setting low temps that night, and it kept the chill off well enough that we were comfortable in our sleeping bags - not t-shirt warm, but certainly a comfortable sleeping temperature. We were heating twice the space recommended for this model, and i was quite satisfied with the performance. . The tilt function is very sensitive, and it will shut off if it gets bumped. I really like this feature, especially when it was bumped inside a dark tent at night. It immediately went out with no unpleasant smell or smoke. Relighting was easily done, even in the darkness. . This thing performs its job well, and i'd definitely recommend it to anyone for heating a tent, cabin, workshop or any small space. I imagine it would be a great emergency heater as well.

We Bought This To Heat Our 8 Person Tent. It Did An Awesome Job! Granted I Only Needed To Turn It On Right Before We Went To Bed And Right After We Woke Up. I Would Turn It On High And After A Couple Of Minutes The Tent Was Warm Enough Where I Had To Either Turn It Off Or Place It On Low. As Far As Odor I Read Other Reviews And Took To Their Advise. I Burned The Heater Outside For About An Hour And That Took Care Of Any Odors. It Does Burn Hot And While In The Tent I Paid A Lot Of Attention To The Nylon Floor Of The Tent. I Should Have Brought Something To Place The Heater On Because The Floor In Front Of The Heater Did Get Noticeably Hot. I Wanted To Run The Heater All Night But We Were Concerned About Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. I Do Believe We Had Adequate Ventilation And I Went So Far As To Purchase A Carbon Monoxide Alarm. The Alarm Didn't Go Off At All. I Also Looked At The Coleman Heaters But The Btu's On This Buddy Heater Put The Coleman To Shame. The Heater Is Solid But Can Be Knocked Over. The Tilt Cut Off Switch Is Great. It Can Be A Bit Annoying As It Did Activate A Couple Of Times As I Moved The Heater Around In My Tent. Good Thing Is It Does Work And With Small Children I Would Highly Recommend A Feature Like This.

I Purchased This For "emergency" Use When The Electricity Goes Out In Winter. I Bought This A Couple Of Years Ago And I Guess It's Murphy's Law The Power Hasn't Gone Out Any Of The Winters Which Is Great But I Hadn't Been Able To Test It. Well Late This Winter My Furnace Went Out And I Had The Opportunity To Try It Out. Personally I Am Always A Little Bit Afraid Of Anything With Propane. Although That Made Me Feel Somewhat Apprehensive When Setting It Up And Priming It It Was Actually Very Easy And Is Very Safe. After Tilting The Section Out Where It Connects To The Propane Tank (just Like The Ones You Might Use For Camping Products) You Simply Twist The Tank In And You're Ready To Go. The Directions To Do This Were Clear And Easy To Follow. Just "ignore" All The Hazard Warnings (they Were Part Of What Made Me Nervous But Remember You Always Have To Account For The Lowest Common Denominator. Obviously Someone At Sometime Did Something To Warrant The Warning! Again Follow The Directions For Priming. Because I Had Not Used Anything Like This Before I'm Sure I Over Compensated On Holding The Button Down (timewise) Before Igniting (and I Had To Do It Twice) So My First Tank Did Not Last As Long As It Should Have. On Low It Should Last 4 Hrs And On High 8. In The 2 Tanks I Used They Lasted More Like 3 And 6-7. But Again I Think That May Also Have Been Because I Turned It Off A Couple Of Times Once By Accident. I Can Tell You That The Tip-over Shut Off Works. I Was Moving It And I Guess I Lifted/tilted It Too Much So It Went Off. My Brother Who Is Extremely Well Versed With Propane Use Said His Has Been Working Great For Many Years. Also That It Is Extremely Safe. He Even Uses His On Carpet. I Was Still Skeptical So Moved It To The Floor. But The Carpet Was Still Close And Never Got Warm. He Also Has Used His In A Tent And Rv. It Heated A Room In A Somewhat Open Floor Plan Well Enough. Room Size Was Maybe 20 X 14. I'm In The Mid-atlantic/northeast. Outside Temp Was Probably 40 Maybe Low 30s I'm Sure If It Was Colder Out It Would Not Be As Effective In An Open Floor Plan But Would Work In A Room That Could Be Closed Off. I Would Recommend This As A Safe Product For Emergency Heat. Hope This Helps In Someone's Decision-making.

Always like the mr heaters. Good little units that do what they say they will. This newer one is a little different than my older model. Has pilot and lighter all in one control now. And the plug in for canisters swivels out to make it easier to screw in the propane canisters. Nice

This Thing Works Like A Dream. I Bought This For A Recent Camping Trip. Around 1am At The Campsite The Temperature Dropped To The Low-mid 50's (september In Southern California). Since The Daytime High Was In The 90's This 40 Degree Temperature Drop Was Enough To Make My Family Feel Like We Were Camping In The Arctic Circle. That's When I Turned On Mr. Heater To The Lowest Setting And Within Minutes Our Tent Was Nice And Toasty (8 Person Tent). By The Way Walmart Has The Best Price For 1 Pound Propane Tanks For Mr. Heater. Walmart Charges About $5. 77 For A 2-pack Of These Propane Tanks. Can't Beat That Price.

This Is An Excellent Portable Heater-- We Live In The Northeast And Lose Power Often With Snow Storms (and The Recent Hurricane Sandy!)-- Although We Have A Generator That Runs On Gasoline Which Can Power Our Furnace We Wanted An Alternative Emergency Heat Source For "just In Case" Occurrances. Generators Which Run On Gasoline Are Great As Long As You Can Purchase Gasoline. It Is Simply Not Safe To "stock Up" On Gasoline--- Storing It Is Dangerous. So No Gas No Heat. Since 1lb Propane Cylinders Are Safe To Stock Up On And Store-- We Decided To Give This Heater A Try. We're Glad We Did-- It Puts Out Excellent Heat For A Decent Sized Room (or Workshop)-- We Tested It Out In Our 29 Ft Airstream Camper And It Heated The Camper Up Nicely And Quickly. My Pleasure To Highly Recommend This Product For An Emergency Heat Source!

This Heater Rules. I Took It On A Polar Bear Camping Trip To Pittsburgh This Weekend. In February And It Was Awesome. We Used It In A Large Canvas Tent With Some Ventilation. After About 20 Minutes We Could Take Off Our Outer Layers And After An Hour Or So We Could Strip Down To Just Our Base Layers As Long As We Were Off The Ground. I Didn't Worry About The Ventilation Too Much As It Has An Auto Off For Low Oxygen And An Auto Off For Tip Over. The Slightest Bump Will Stop The Gas Flow. I Did Burn Off One Can Outside As Advised By Other Reviewers. I Noticed A Very Slight Smell At First But It Was Gone Within 30 Minutes. I Let The Can Finish For Good Measure. At 9 000 Btu Each 16. 4 Propane Canister Will Only Last About 4 Hours So Bring A Lot Of Them Or A Bigger Tank And Converter. Another Plus Is That The Safety Cage Is Wrapped In Thick Rubber So It Doesn't Burn You When You Bump It By Accident. I Did Not Run It Overnight Because I Have A Very Warm Sleeping Bag And Did Not Need To Though I Wouldn't Fear Doing So.

H. Franklin, Gloucestershire says

I Returned This Unit For Reasons Other Than It's Functionality. However I Want To Warn People Handling This Product To Be Very Careful With The Bottom Of The Heater. It Has Cut-outs In The Metal That Are Razor Sharp. I Sliced My Fingers Open Bad Enough That I Heeded Stitches. This Is A Very Bad Design.

B. Eleanor, New Brunswick

It was nice having this heater during my last hunt. It warmed the tent nicely each morning. This allowed me to get dressed in a warm tent without feeling rushed to beat the cold. I ran it off a 20lb propane tank outside the tent and found that i didn't need to run it long to warm the tent.
