Price was $16.95. Amazing results when used in my 97 m-edition mazda mx-5 miata. I have a 5-speed transmission and shifts were a bit clunky before. I changed the fluid with this stuff and it shifts as smooth as silk. I don't know how much that had to do with the fluid having never been changed before i did it. Haha. . Also be sure to check your turret fluid level where the shifter is in your car. Mine was pretty dry in there at only 75, 000 miles. Next i need to get a shifter rebuild kit. You are going to need two bottles for the first gen. Miata.

Bought this to replace the oem fluid in my 2009 mazda rx8's transmission and it worked wonderfully. With this oil you will get the best performance once the transmission warms up, it can be slightly notchy when cold but it really isn't a big deal, it still functions perfectly fine. Would definitely recommend this oil to anyone. Just remember this is only for the transmission, if you want to replace the differential oil you will need the gl-5 version(for my car at least) since that is what it calls for. I Previously Ran Factory Honda Brand Mtf That Cost About Half The Price Per Quart That The Redline Did And It Lasted 35k Before It Started Acting Up. Right Away I Notice That The Redline Mtl Actually Made The Gears A Little Harder To Shift Than With The Old Honda Fluid Especially In The Colder Weather (sub 40 Degrees). I Was Always Under The Impression That Synthetics Work Better In Extreme Temperatures But I Guess That's Not Always The Case. The Increased Effort Of The Redline Fluid Has Never Caused It To Grind A Gear Or Not Engage So Its Not That Bad. Be Sure To Fully Research Whether This Fluid Will Work With Your Transaxle Well Via Forums And First Person Feedback For Your Particular Car. I use this product in my 92 nissan sentra se. I have been pleased with it. I wanted to make sure that i put gl-4 in my tranny because my nissan manual says that a gl-5 will destroy my transmission. In the summer when i have more time, i am going to change out the trannie fluid on my 88 toyota truck and put in this same product. My shifts have been smooth, and after a long drive, i pop the hood, reach down and touch the trannie and feel the metal. Of course it is hot but i can keep my hand on it. That tells me that it is lubricating and that means fighting friction and heat. Plus some of the heat if not most comes from the engine (heat transfer from engine) anyway. Red line is good stuff. Plus it is fully synthetic so you are getting consistent protection and performance.

Put this in my 1991 bmw r100 motorcycle's transmission. From the first click into 1st gear when cold i could tell this was going to be what the 19 year old tranny needed. It has had regular changes of tranny fluid with otc gear lubes, which work ok when real new, but soon become clunky when hot. The synthetic redline pours readily and really has smoothed out the downshift when running hard, and when coming to a stop, where old beemer's are really clunky when hot. I'm sold. . Update: 11-12-2013. . 3 years later - like the way the fluid worked, so i am buying and using it again.

Fantastic is the only word for this product. I was contemplating replacing or rebuilding my transmission (bad syncro from 3 to 4) when i came across this product. I had used valvoline synthetic which was supposed to be gl4 and gl5 compliant and the syncro did not get better, so i spent over $60 on royal purple thinking that it would fix it (hey, after all its supposed to be gods gift to oils). Well, after pumping in $63 worth of purple goo, it didn't get any better. As a matter of fact, it started a low whine in overdrive. As i was researching rebuild kits, this stuff popped up and i decided on one last gamble. Wow, what a difference! not only do i have zero grind into 4th as i always used to, it even took the whine out of the transmission. This saved a tranny drop and rebuild for less than i wasted on the royal purple (royal poop-le more like). For gear oil, stop here first.

This stuff is everything that others have said. The transmission in my 240z had developed a whine. To my shock and horror i discovered the gear box had never been filled with fluid and i had driven the car well over 100 miles already. I filled up the gear box with mt90 and after a few miles all the whine was silenced except for a subtle whine in 5th gear. I am confident once i get some highway driving time in the car that it will go away too. This stuff has been a life saver and it definitely help me dodge a bullet.

I bought this to change out the trans oil in my 07 miata. I'd read it can take 80-100 miles to note any differences, but mine started to show up after 20-30 miles and i now have 150+ since the change. . Wow! the shift from 1st to 2nd just glides in, and downshifts the same. The other gears are *much* easier to engage than before. The gear lube i drained only had about 20k miles on it per the dealer records, so it wasn't like i took out bad stuff. This now feels a lot like a honda gearbox; it's that smooth. . You get what you pay for with red line products, and for the same cost as buying locally but instead delivered to the door, you can't beat the convenience.

I have a 2005 toyoya corolla xrs with a 6 speed manual transmission. I have 190, 000 miles on the car. It still has the original clutch in it. I've used this product almost exclusively every 30, 000 miles. Except for one time, i tried royal purple. Didn't care for royal purple. Didn't seem to shift as smooth. This stuff is awesome! then again, all of the redline product line is awesome! all i know is, i'm on the original clutch with 190, 000 miles with no sign of slipping or rough shifting. Is redline the reason? i don't know for sure, but in my mind it is so i'm going to stick with it!

These should have been called magic potion. I bought these for my 2009 mazdaspeed 3, and noticed a big difference in smoothness in shifting in all temperatures compared to the royal purple i had in there. Redline is the real deal, highly recommended !

I had this fluid in the manual transmission of my 03 miata. Never thought much of it and i put 75w-90 royal purple in my tranny next time i changed the fluid. Pretty soon my synchronizers started making noise every time i shifted and sometimes there was so much resistance on downshifting that i kept missing gears completely. I switched back to mt-90. Now the transmission is transparent again. It goes in and out of gear like butter and doesn't call any attention to itself, just snick - snick the way i like it. Believe the hype. . Btw - for all you nb miata guys out there, most people say the 6 speed takes only 2 quarts. The shifter fluid and transmission fluid are one and the same in our car so you need to fill your transmission through the shifter turret under the console. If you fill it through the fill bolt on the side of the transmission, you'll leave the shifter linkage bone dry. Filling it up till the fluid level reaches close to the top of the turret take five quarts, yes five quarts.

I had used redline products in the past and when it came time to do a major tune up on the 95 tacoma i knew i would be looking at redline to help smooth out a 20 year old transmission. . My father bought the truck new in 1995 and i drove it all through high school, with the addition of his 2015 tacoma i gave him the trade in value the 95 was apraised at to keep it around as a commuter truck. It never like down shifting gears. It would always be very stubborn trying to go into 2nd gear at anything more the 20mph. In the colder morning temperatures it is not terribly fond of going into 3rd or 4th when up shifting either and made a terrible rattling noise at moderate to heavy throttle input which i could never pinpoint the cause of. I dumped out the old valvoline gear oil and refilled the transmission with the redline mt90 and was very pleased with the results. The transmission was much easier to shift into all gears 1-5 and the down shifting is much improved. I was not looking for a miracle fix for everything but this stuff drastically helped this stubborn old 5 speed gear box. And that random rattling noise? that is now gone as well. . Overall i al very happy with their products as i always have been.

Gl-4 oil is next to impossible to find at the local auto parts stores, so i was elated when i found it on online store. I've read rave reviews on message forums about the redline mt-90 so when it was time to change out my own oils on my 5 speed tacoma, i had to try it for myself. . In the past, i brought my truck in for an expensive "4 case change" which included changing out the oils in both front and rear differentials, the manual transmission and transfer case. The gl-5 oil for the differentials are easily sourced at the local auto parts stores, but the gl-4 oil for the transmission and transfer case is not available, likely because most people now drive automatics and it must just not sell enough to be profitable for the stores. The gl-5 oil has sulfur based additives which eat away at the syncros in the transmission making the transmission not shift appropriately. . My transmission used to have a slight periodic grind when shifting from 5th to 4th on the highway. Additionally, it wouldn't shift easily into 1st unless i was going under 5 mph. I've had the red line oil in the transmission and transfer case now for about 1 month and i've noticed that the transmission shifts much smoother now. The periodic grind is gone and i can shift into 1st gear now going around 13 to 15 mph. The transmission at over 234k miles now works nearly as good as new!

Worked great for my 2004 golf, only gave 4 stars due to price. . I noticed a difference in shifting after changing the gear oil, goes between the gears smooth as butter. Worth the $. . My car had 185, 000km at the time i change my gear oil. The red fluid is a sample of the mt-90, the container on the right is what came out of my gear box. . So far so good, i've put on 3, 000km since the change and no issues.

This is one awesome gl-4 fluid. It does everything it is supposed to and more, just as redline promised. It smoothed out my transmission that i thought was potentially damaged. I was skeptical at first but no more. It was also cheaper than very expensive (and wrong, for my car) fluids at all the local stores that they tried to sell me. . Some background info is in order, if you are interested. . Many think all gear lube is the same, as long as you pick the right weight. Even many mechanics pay no attention to anything other than weight. Well, wrong, although it used to be true. Unlike motor oil, gear lube is indeed made different for different applications, even for the same weights, as newer cars requirements are so different from older cars. . Mistake one: i had a pro shop change the gear lube in a manual tranny pushing close to 200k. I figured it was time :) if you want it done right, do it yourself, but i was lazy that day. I specifically requested them to make sure the right synthetic fluid went in. They of course put in the right weight: high priced, major brand, synthetic 75w90, but they never bothered to check anything else, since they just have the autostore cross-reference and deliver the fluid. The stores are more clueless than anything else. The chain stores do not even stock gl-4 fluid anymore. There was one high priced brand that claimed to be both gl-4 and gl-5. Well, anything that claims to be one size fits all usually does not fit anything properly so i would stay away from that. . Mistake two: not checking if all lube was backward compatible. If you want to be sure, check everything yourself. After all, i had professionals do it for me, right? they don't care because it is not their car. Well, gl-5 is not backward compatible and can actually damage some tender parts in transmissions designed for gl-4 due to some harsh additives. . So, after the shop put in gl-5, after a week or two, tranny started lurching in 5th gear. Darn. Did some research, but could not be sure if it was the fluid or just coincidence. After all, it is a lot of miles on the tranny. But, all indications were gl-5 was bad for my gl-4 designed transmission. So, all my hopes rested on this redline fluid. It did not let me down! . . Got some redline mt-90 gl-4 75w90 fluid and changed it myself. Online store has the best price. No one locally even stocked pure gl-4. At first, the lurching was still there. Well, it was worth a try, i thought. But then, it got smoother, or so it seemed. Wishful thinking, i thought. Then, it was definitely smoother, no mistake. Could it be? now, about two weeks after, for the very first day, the lurching in 5th gear is completely gone, and the tranny is as smooth as it was before. Even smoother. I would occasionally grind when shifting quickly, but now i can shift as fast i am capable of and i have yet to make it grind. . So, expensive lessons learned. . One, do it yourself, if you can. Check what someone else puts in your car before you let them put it there. Definition of a "professional" is that they are paid to do it, not necessarily that they do it well. Just because they get paid to do it, does not mean they know what they are doing, or know better than you. . Two, even if you do not do it yourself, at least make sure your mechanic knows what to put in. They will not take time to research and could not care less if you do not tell them beforehand. . Three, do not trust clueless autostores to cross-reference fluids. They will get it wrong most of the time. Go to factory service manuals or other reliable sources for that information. . Four, if your transmission calls for gl-4, do not chance it with gl-5! brass synchronizers cannot take it, as gl-5 additives can eat them. You may need a new tranny or major repairs before you know it.

I put this in a 2002 chevy tracker (rebadged suzuki vitara) with a 5 speed stick transmission and lever operated transfer case. The factory specification calls for a 75w90 gl4 gear lube in both but a previous owner had put gl5 rear end gear lube in them. Gl5 eats at the "yellow metal" brass/bronze used in the gear synchronizers in the transmission and transfer case. As a result of this the transfer case would not shift into low range and the 5 speed stick was very tricky to shift. Hard shifts, having to force it into gear, being stiffer when it was cold, just overall not smooth. I was worried because a friend with a jeep had a similar occurrence and ended up replacing his whole transmission because it became unshiftable and wouldn't hold gears. Read a review of this redline and it's specific use for manual transmissions. Figured it couldn't hurt and put it in the transmission and transfer case. . Immediately it was smoother to shift just sitting in the garage with the engine off. I backed out of the garage and was able to promptly push it into 4lo for the first time since i have owned it. Worked great and i backed right up a small hill without any trouble. Several weeks later it's shifting better and low range is back. I will say the transmission was obviously damaged and the transfer case is still not smooth going into low range but i can go into low range now and the transmission is definitely smoother. I can only imagine what this stuff would be like in a transmission in better shape than mine. It's not cheap but considering how hard it is to find gl4 rated 75w90 anymore (i bet your local parts store doesn't have it or has a few quarts at most) i'd highly recommend this redline product.

I replaced my manual transmission oil with this redline synthetic in my rx8 around 30, 000 miles and was very please with the results. I thought the car shifted well before but now it's buttery smooth. Doesn't seem like i have to wait for the oil to warm up to get nice smooth shifts. It's good to go right off the bat. Simple job just remove fill plug on the transmission then remove drain plug. Clean and replace drain plug when the oil is all out and pump in the redline. I used plews 55001 lubrimatic fluid quart pump, fits standard quart bottles to pump in the oil and stopped when it started to trickle out of the fill plug.
